Will Manzer, CEO, Eastern Mountain Sports, Peterborough, NH
Adventure is in Will Manzer’s blood. During his life, he has competed in marathons, triathlons of different lengths and the earliest versions of what today is known as adventure racing. In his business career, Will engineered a successful management-led buyout of Eastern Mountain Sports in 2004. He now oversees the 86-store specialty retail chain. Prior to joining Eastern Mountain Sports, Will served as President at Perry Ellis from 2000 to 2003.
Scott Hornick, RockWerx, Baltimore, MD.
Scott Hornick initially tapped into the climbing industry through his experience as a physical education teacher. Working with kids, he saw their enthusiasm for non-traditional activities and wanted to create new educational opportunities and adventures to challenge children. Scott first built a bouldering traverse wall at his own school and then began building them at friend's schools in the mid-Atlantic region. The business of building walls soon took off, and since the first project in 1999, Scott and his former company Adventure Systems (acquired by Rockwerx in 2007) built countless walls at schools, recreational centers, health clubs, resorts, and amusement parks. Scott directs the Sales and Marketing operations of Rockwerx from our Baltimore, Maryland office, and if you’re interested in a Rockwerx project, Scott will most likely be the first person you talk to. Scott holds a Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology with a minor in Education.
